American College Connection: Track and Field

High School Track and Field had the highest increase in participants last year of all sports. The number of student-athletes participating in high school Track and Field rose by over 21,000* (10,361 for girls and 11,031 for boys) this past year.

Combined with Cross Country, Track and Field has more high school athletes than football with 1.25 million participants. To get an idea of how difficult it is to qualify for a scholarship in college Track and Field consider the following:

The answer is American College Connection and our Director of Track and Field and Cross Country, Larry Jessee. Coach Jessee brings over 30 years of experience as a world-class athlete and coach.

Larry's career as a world-class pole vaulter spanned 3 decades. In the 1970's, he was an NCAA Champion, NCAA record holder and two-time American Champion. In the 1980's he established an American and World Record of 19'2 ¾ " and in the 90's he set a World Master's Record at age 44.

Over his many years of competing around the globe, he has established many contacts that cover National and International Federations, national and collegiate coaches and "insiders" in the world of Track and Field.

As a long-time assistant coach at the University of Texas at El Paso, Coach Jessee has been regarded as one of the top recruiters in the country.
